Transforming Ocean Waste into Premium Eco-Friendly Textiles

Experience a new era of fashion fused with a conscience. Embarking on a journey that upholds circular economy principles—rescue, recycle, and reinvent—we breathe new life into ocean waste, creating textiles of unparalleled quality. OceanPure is crafted from 100% ocean waste recycled yarn, weaving together style, ethics, and environmental stewardship. And what sets OceanPure apart? It's more than just a product; it's a pledge to the planet.

How OceanPure Was Born

Ocean's Importance and the Peril of Abandoned Fishing Gear

Where there is water, there is life. We live on a planet with a surface area of over 70 percent enveloped by water, known as the ocean. The climate is driven by the ocean, which regulates temperature, and ultimately supports all life on Earth. Throughout history, the ocean has served as a source of sustenance, transportation, commerce, growth, and inspiration. However, humans haven't managed to safeguard the most valuable asset we have.

Are you aware that approximately 640,000 tons of fishing gear are discarded into the ocean annually? According to a recent report by Greenpeace, discarded fishing gear is the leading cause of plastic pollution in the oceans.

Dolphins, sea turtles, and whales are found entangled in nets and many die. The nets also harm corals by blocking the sunlight needed for photosynthesis to sustain coral life, indirectly destroying habitats and food sources for marine life. These are staggering statistics that underscore the need for immediate action to reduce ocean waste.

At the heart of our mission lies a simple yet profound goal: through the transformation of abandoned fishnets and ocean waste into textiles, we have the power to lessen our ecological footprint. In doing so, we embark on a journey to heal our planet and safeguard the oceans, ultimately working towards the preservation of humanity and the countless marine creatures that inhabit our seas.

Waste to Textile

A Sustainable Approach

Committed to improving ocean health, FlyingTex has teamed up with Formosa Chemical Fiber Corporation (FCFC), the world's second-largest fishnet manufacturer, and a major international raw material supplier. Through this system, we gather an average of over 15,000 tons of ocean waste annually, transforming it into raw material for our OceanPure fabrics.

Circular Economy

Closed-Loop Supply Chain

FlyingTex is built on the principles of rescue, recycle, and reinvent. Our focus is on creating a closed-loop supply chain that operates in a circular economy. So, how exactly do we make this happen? First off, we start by rescuing discarded fishnets. We team up with fishnet manufacturers to gather old nets from fishermen, preventing these nets from ending up abandoned in the ocean. These nets, instead of being wasted, go through a recycling process to transform into OceanPure fabrics.

But that's not all. Our commitment to a closed-loop supply chain means that we also provide fishermen with new nets. This not only supports their livelihoods but also contributes to the circular economy we're passionate about. And quality isn't something we compromise on. To guarantee top-notch products, we establish strong and lasting partnerships with our suppliers. This way, our products can meet our high standards while also ensuring consistency and reliability throughout our operations.

Why should I choose OceanPure?

Among its advantages are

Made of Traceable Recycled Post-Consumer Raw Materials

The OceanPure fabric collection is produced using ocean waste recycled yarn, which is produced entirely from post-consumer raw materials. Our closed-loop supply chain ensures traceability throughout the production process.

100% Ocean Waste Recycled Yarn

Unlike other ocean waste yarns in the market that may utilize a small percentage of ocean waste yarn (sometimes less than 50%), our OceanPure fabrics are crafted using 100% ocean waste recycled yarn. Rest assured, our ocean waste recycled yarn is certified under the esteemed Global Recycled Standard (GRS), validating its eco-friendly origin.

Beyond Just Fish Nets

Our commitment extends beyond collecting abandoned fishnets or other fishing gear. We actively gather ocean waste from various sources, including fishnets, oyster breeding nets, and any other Nylon plastic waste that is a threat to marine life and the coastal environment.

Top-Quality Lightweight Fabrics from Ocean Waste

Our dedication to high standards shines through in everything we do. Our expert team excels in creating top-tier, lightweight fabrics sourced from ocean waste. The product range we offer includes distinctive 20D and 40D fabrics, highlighting our capacity for excellence. As you already know, sustainability and innovation are in our DNA. By transforming ocean waste with care, we consistently surpass customer expectations and pave the way for an eco-friendly tomorrow.

"Over 8 million tons of plastic enter the ocean each year, which is equivalent to a garbage truck full of plastic being dumped into the ocean every minute. "

"Procedures like melting, depolymerization, and refining transform fishing nets back into caprolactam, Nylon's raw material. Converting ocean waste into yarn and Nylon fabric cuts CO2 emissions by about 49% on average compared to standard Nylon production, thus reducing the overall carbon footprint."

"Furthermore, it eliminates the need for new petroleum inputs, resulting in a 15% reduction in fossil fuel consumption and preventing additional environmental harm."
